Once again, Fellowships of the Spirit is conducting its Exceptional Teaching Course by master teacher Mark Thomas. Newly formatted and updated for today’s world, Mark will bring you some of the finest instruction available in 3 modules. If teaching classes is something you have wanted to do but not knowing how to build, promote, and conduct them effectively has held you back, then this course is for you. Or, if you are already teaching and want to take your work to its next level, then this course series is for you.

This first weekend of the 3-part series focuses on the preparations for teaching effective courses. The ancient Persian proverb, “Well begun is half done”, is apropos for achieving success in delivering quality instruction that leaves your students fulfilled and clamoring for more. Required reading of assigned material prior to arriving for this weekend of instruction is essential to your integrating the learning outcomes to be realized.

Part #2 Showtime
Friday, August 28 – Sunday, August 30
This second weekend of the series moves participants into the depth of teaching know how. From managing your own communication and presentation skills to managing your classroom, you will complete this part of the Exceptional Teaching Series with the knowledge and skills to create and deliver your learning programs at a high level. You will be required to have read assigned material prior to arriving for this weekend of instruction.

Part #3 Practicum: Where the Rubber Meets the Road
Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27
This weekend is the culmination of the work from the prior two weekends of instruction, completion of the required reading and the assembly of a brief presentation by each participant on a topic of their choosing. The actual presentations will be preceded by an explanation by each presenter of the assumptions underlying their presentation.

Mark Thomas is a native of Rockford, Illinois. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Parks Administration in 1975, at the University of Illinois and moved to New York State to take a position as the Director of the Fancher Field Campus of the State University College at Brockport. After seven years at Brockport he began his training and consulting work in the human relations field.
Beginning his work as a seminar trainer and consultant in 1981, Mark pursued some of the finest available methods of improving interpersonal relations. He extensively studied Bandler and Grinder’s Neuro- Linguistic Programming (NLP), completing his certification as both a practitioner and trainer. His work is also strongly influenced by the work of Dr. David Dobson’s Other Than Conscious Communication (OTCC), as well as the exemplary work of Milton H Erickson, MD. Also in the 1980s, Mark provided his expertise to the national training team of best-selling author and motivational speaker Anthony Robbins.
Mark and his wife Elaine began applying the accelerated learning tools of NLP to the teaching of spiritual development practices through their modeling course known as Spiritual Insight Training. In 1988, Reverend Elaine and Mark founded Fellowships of the Spirit and its School of Spiritual Healing and Prophecy, which has continuously provided high quality educational programs for 32 years.
In addition to business pursuits, from 1992-1997, Mark was elected to and served in both Town Councilman and Town Supervisor seats on the Pomfret Town Board. Following that time, he was elected to two-terms as Chautauqua County Executive (1998-2005). During his time as County Executive he was also elected to a term as President of the New York State County Executives Association.
Following his elected service, Mark returned to his original career as the Western District Director of New York State Parks. In this position he served as the administrator in charge of 40 state parks and parkways throughout western New York. During his tenure at New York State Parks, Mark served as an instructor at the agency’s Facility Managers Institute as well as a leader of the Senior Managers Seminars. In May of 2018, Mark retired from full time government service and is pursuing teaching opportunities. Currently Mark is serving as an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Illinois Department of Recreation, Sports and Tourism. He also continues to lecture and instruct at various spiritual communities and remains on the faculty at the School of Spiritual Healing and Prophecy. Mark and his wife Elaine reside in Fredonia New York.
