Ed McGaa will speak on the wisdom and prophecy of Sioux Mystic,
Nicholas Black Elk, who was born in 1863. His son, Ben Black Elk, and
interpreter of the book, Black Elk Speaks, by John Neihardt, was a
personal mentor of Ed McGaa. Ed was also mentored by the highly
respected Chiefs Fools Crow and Bill Eagle Feather.
Ed's latest book, Creator's Code...Planetary Survival and Beyond,
reveals what Dominant Society must do to care for the planet and the
dire consequences that are now in their beginning stages. He holds that
the original inhabitants of this land were respectful caretakers. It is
obvious to him that original inhabitant's values, Earth respecting
spirituality, conduct and ability to select selfless leadership, is a
definite must for the earth and its people to awaken to in these times.
Ed (Eagle Man) McGaa, J.D. is a registered Teton Oglala, born on the
Pine Ridge reservation. Following his childhood ambition, he became a
Marine Fighter Pilot and flew 110 combat missions in Vietnam. He holds
a law degree from the University of South Dakota and is the author of
eight books, including: Mother Earth Spirituality (Harper & Row),
Nature's Way, (Harper/Collins), Native Wisdom, (Council Oak Books) and
Creator's Code.
Eagle Man participated six times in six years as a sun dancer under
the tutelage of the holy men Chief Eagle Feather, Chief Fools Crow and
Ben Black Elk. The well known Hilda Neihardt was also instrumental in
the wealth of knowledge Ed was made heir to.
